His skill attracts the attention of master ninja Hattori Hanzo, who offers to help William track down Kelley in exchange for slaying the yokai. While there, he notices that strange beasts called yokai have ravaged the countryside, and fights his way through them. William journeys to the land of "Zipangu" (Japan) to find Kelley and take back his spirit. However, his spirit is soon captured by the English alchemist Edward Kelley, who plans to journey to Japan to steal the magical "Amrita" stones in order to strengthen the rule of Queen Elizabeth. In the year 1600, after being betrayed and left to rot in the Tower of London, William Adams manages to break out with the help of a guardian spirit.
The game had been in development since October 2004 and went through several iterations before finally being released in February 2017. However, William has many tools at his disposal, and can even pick up additional weapons or armor from fallen enemies on occasion. Even the most basic enemy is capable of killing William in a few hits. Nioh features hack-and-slash survival action similar to that of Dark Souls, as players must use careful positioning and stamina ( ki) management in order to survive the many enemies that William faces. As William, the player must fight their way through both human warriors and demonic yokai to bring peace to Sengoku-era Japan. According to PCGamesN, Koei Tecmo has since released a statement saying it's "actively working on several updates" for the Steam version.Nioh is an action RPG game with players taking the role of William Adams, a rare foreigner samurai who works for Hattori Hanzo under Tokugawa Ieyasu. Such players either haven't encountered any issues or the problems are so minimal that the otherwise great experience doesn't seem tarnished by performance woes.
There are still a contingent of players leaving positive reviews, however. Another notes that frames are known to drop between 15 and 20 frames per second. One popular user review tells fans to " pass for now" if they don't have a controller, as there's currently no keyboard support, or want to play on max settings. Yet, there are a plethora of mixed and negative user reviews, the vast majority of which express dismay at the game's performance. The new releases are bittersweet in a way, however, given Team Ninja's claim that Nioh 2 will count as the franchise's last entry. It stands to reason, then, that the remasters are now the best way for PlayStation players to explore these particular Soulslike adventures.

Most notably, Team Ninja equipped the Nioh remaster with a Photo Mode. The PlayStation 5 remasters boast several neat bells and whistles. Developer Team Ninja also recently launched a native PlayStation 5 version, alongside remasters for both entries in the series and their respective DLC offerings. The PC port for Nioh 2 comes roughly one year after the sequel first hit stores for PlayStation 4. Nioh 2 made its way to PC via Steam last week and instantly achieved meteoric success it hasn't all been good news, though, since PC players are reporting performance that continue to tarnish the experience.
